Hello all! I’m a fairly new Suffolk mare owner. I have had her since July, she is perfect! I trail ride her as well as dressage lessons. Lately I have noticed she isn’t loving her food as much as she used too. I was wondering what anyone feeds their horses and if you have found this breed thrives better on certain feed or supplements. Any info anyone has I would love to know and would be greatly appreciated. I want the absolute best for my girl!

Hi Elysia, thank you for your question! I live in Western Canada. We have a large herd of Suffolks which we breed and work. As the Suffolk breed tends to be an easy keeper, we feed a late season brome grass/alfalfa hay. Young stock and those that need extra get whole oats. All horses have access to a free choice mineral and salt. It has been my experience that simple is best.
