So the short answer to what is being done with the Archives is thus. The archives are being electronically scanned and labeled. Some of the "archives" are merely day to day business forms. i.e.. registration applications and transfer applications. As we draw nearer to Oct 2 I would expect the Board to take up discussion as to the disposition of these forms and the true Archival items. It is the intent to have everything at the Board meetings in East Jordan MI so the Board can see, and talk about , and make good decisions. Lastly I see the possibility of creating flash drives or posting to the website so the membership can enjoy at their leisure. Rest assured, it is the desire of the Board to put the Archives into the hands of our members, we haven't yet decided on the path. Thanks for your inquiry.

Would it not be more sensible for these Archives to be held by the Secretary who would then have easy access to them when researching background material.

I agree with Yvonne the archives should be held by the Secretary.  I personally have reviewed and seen many of the archives.  It is more than forms and paperwork.  There is a vast amount of historical documents and memorabilia including many pictures that need to be preserved.  While yes it is nice that these would be scanned and available for membership the originals should be stored in a fire proof filing cabinets. What is the cost of this scanning and did we get three quotes?
